If you are experiencing a dental emergency, we will do everything in our power to see you the same day to relieve your pain and ease your mind.
What is a Dental Emergency?
If you have an oral condition or injury that needs immediate care to save your tooth, stop severe infection or pain, or stop excessive bleeding, it is an emergency. Among the most common dental emergencies are:
- Knocked-out teeth.
- Severe toothache (throbbing, persistent pain).
- An abscess or infection (a pimple on the gums).
- Swollen gums with a fever.
- Broken or cracked teeth.
- Bleeding that doesn’t stop after 15 minutes.
- A tooth is knocked out of place or loose.
- Severe cuts or lacerations of the tongue or cheeks.
- Lost crown or filling.
- Difficulty opening or closing the mouth.
- Pus or discharge from the mouth.
- Headaches or jaw pain originating near a tooth.
We encourage you to call our office at New Image Cosmetic and Family Dentistry Phone Number (360) 604-7151 if you are not sure whether your situation is a dental emergency. We will evaluate your condition and arrange for appropriate care.
If you are in pain, our first priority is alleviating it and stabilizing your oral health!
What You Can Do for Dental Emergencies
Until you can get to our office for your emergency dental appointment, there are a few steps you can take to minimize pain and possible damage:
- If you’ve knocked out a tooth, pick it up by the crown (don’t touch the roots) and put it in a container with saliva or milk. Bring it to your appointment. A knocked-out tooth is urgent, so call us immediately.
- For chipped or broken teeth, save the fragments and rinse your mouth with warm saltwater. If there are sharp edges, cover them with chewing gum or dental cement from the drugstore.
- For a severe toothache, you can take non-prescription painkillers.
- For excessive bleeding, rinse with warm saltwater and apply pressure with gauze or a soft, clean cloth.
